The Grizzly Bear

THE GRIZZLY BEAR

MEANING>Lewis and Clark named it to be grisly or grizzly, which could have came from grizzled, which is golden and grey tips of the hair
.

These awe inspiring giants tend to be solitary animals with the exception of females and cubs. But there are moments when they congregate. In Alaska at prime fishing spots there are large gatherings of bears when the salmon go up stream for summer spawning. In a season like this bears will eat a lot to sustain them in long winter to come.

Brown bears dig holes for the winter during there hibernation typically on a hillside. Females often give birth during the hibernation, the offspring are typically twins. These bears are top of the food chain predators, yet much of their diet consists off nuts, roots, leaves and berries.

These bears are typically brown yet their fur can also be grizzled.
